Citricle launches Ping

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Let’s say you are in the middle of your work and suddenly your Internet connection stops working right when you need it the most. I’m sure that happened to you and I am sure it will happen again. But when that happens, most people will leave their desk and go grab some coffee, go spend some time talking to their colleagues or family, or something else.

Sometimes that can be very annoying or in some cases it might just give you the short break that you needed so much, but one thing is certain in any case: you will have to go back to your computer every 5 minutes, click your homepage or refresh the browser just to see if your Internet connection is working again.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a piece of software that can play an alert sound when your internet is connected again?

Well starting today, there is a software that was designed especially for that. It’s called Citricle Ping and even better: its free! .

With Citricle Ping, you can set your computer to keep pinging a host (it can be a web domain or an IP address), and play a notification sound when the ping request is successfull or a different sound if it’s not. It’s so simple and easy to use, and yet it can be so useful.

You can use it to alert you when your Internet is down, alert you when it’s up and running again and you can even use it to check the status of your server, your home computer or a computer in your local area network. It can generate log files so you can keep track of the ping replies.

If it sounds interesting, go here to download it. If you think you don’t need this, just wait until your Internet connection will stop working and you will understand why this can come in so handy.
